Francis L. “Frank” Mueller, M.D.
Dr. Mueller has practiced in the Upper Napa Valley since 1979. He graduated from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, did his internship at Highland General Hospital in Oakland and his Family Medicine Residency training in Ventura County General Hospital, Ventura, California. He is residency trained and Board Certified in Family Medicine and provides care to patients of all ages. In 2003, he was among the first U.S. physicians to become a certified specialist in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Palliative Medicine is medicine’s newest specialty, one that emphasizes providing comfort and maximizing function for patients with life-threatening illnesses, as well as end of life care. From 2009-2011, he was Chief of Staff at St. Helena Hospital. He was voted Physician of the Year for 2009 by the Napa County Medical Society.
Dr. Mueller’s wife of 34 years works at Queen of the Valley hospital as a registered nurse and he has two grown daughters. Dr. Mueller’s interests include home wine-making, gardening, travel, beekeeping, raising chickens and attempting to “live green.” After 29 years of home wine-making, he and his family now produce a small amount of premium Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon.
